Brentwood 2012 Young Ambassadors

Brentwood Leisure Trust will be sponsoring the selected Brentwood Young Ambassadors by keeping them fit for the job with free membership to The Brentwood Centre, until the 2012 Olympic Games.
The scheme put together by Brentwood Borough Council and secondary schools in the area, selected 9 pupils from each school to work towards, and help deliver part of the Brentwood 2012 schools’ programme.  The 2012 young Ambassadors will become representatives and the ‘voice’ of all local young people who are certain to benefit from the 2012 Olympic experience.

Brentwood Leisure Trusts’ Chief Executive, Roger Davinson is pleased that the Brentwood Centre can be involved in such a worthwhile partnership, “One of the Council’s aims for the Young Ambassadors is to boost Young People’s interest in sport, art and culture; increasing participation; and expanding the opportunity to be involved in a variety of leisure activities including, sport, physical activity, art and culture. What better way to spread the word amongst the Brentwood community than for the Young Ambassadors to enjoy the variety of facilities on offer at The Brentwood Centre.”

As well as taking part in the activities, the Young Ambassadors will also be given tickets to watch the Christmas game played by local basketball heroes, The London Leopards. Each young Ambassador will be given 2 tickets for the game, one for them, and one for a member of their school that they believe would benefit most from the exciting experience.

The Instructors at The Brentwood Centre will be keeping a close eye on the Ambassadors. They will be reporting back on a regular basis on the benefits that the youngsters have gained from the sponsorship, and how the pupils believe they can pass on what they have learnt to other young people.

Over the last week we, here at Phoenix FM, have welcomed Young Ambassadors from Anglo European, St Martins, Sawyers Hall College and Shenfield High School onto the breakfast show to tell us, and Alex Sibley, all about it.
